George Blackwell Murphy, 81, of Louisburg, died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Louisburg Nursing Center. Born April 13, 1930 the son of the late William Earl and Caroline Virginia Mason Murphy.

He is survived by his wife Jane Allan Murphy; his daughter, Caroline Desda Murphy Ponton and her husband, Lance of Waynesville, Rebekah Blackwell Murphy Mullinax and her husband, Richard of Raleigh, one granddaughter, and three grandsons.

Arrangements are being handled by Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Louisburg United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
